Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka told staff of Fiji Airways that their dedication and tireless efforts have transformed our beloved airline into a symbol of excellence and a source of national pride and inspiration.
He made the remarks whilst on his first official tour of the Fiji Airways Head office in Nasoso, Nadi.
Prime Minister Rabuka hailed the achievements of Fiji Airways describing it as a testament of their collective effort as a team and ‘vuvale’ who have consistently gone ‘above and beyond’ the call of duty.
“The People’s Coalition Government recognize the key role the airline industry plays in the revival of the tourism sector which provides jobs to our people in village and nearby communities,” Prime Minister Rabuka said.
“Your Government is determined to ensure the industry thrives because we understand the important role you play in the economic survival of our people.”
The Prime Minister also highlighted the Coalition’s Government recent budget announcement – its commitment in boosting the tourism industry through an operational grant of $7m and a significant marketing budget of $30m allocated to Tourism Fiji.
“I am confident that Fiji Airways will continue to be a vital link connecting our nation to the world and a key driver of economic growth.
“As we look towards the future, I have no doubt that Fiji Airways will continue to soar to greater heights under the capable leadership of the CEO, the Executive Management and the staff.
“Your Government and the people of Fiji are fully behind you, and have complete faith in your abilities. May you continue to thrive and bring pride to our nation.”
The Head of Government also had the opportunity to tour the Fiji Airways Academy where he was briefed on its daily operations. He also met the management, staff and students acknowledging their hard-work.
Fiji Airways Managing Director and CEO Andre Viljoen said the airline is experiencing a level of growth and earnings and at the same time has elevated its global ranking in the top 20 Best Airlines in the world.
Mr Viljoen attributed Fiji Airways’ success to the dedication of employees and its executive management.
“Together we have forged a common purpose, we fly for Fiji. This defines our role as a strategic national asset and we look forward to your continued support as we forge new paths for the airline tourism industry and indeed for all of Fiji,” CEO Viljoen added.
