Consultations Bestows Hope in West

The PR consultations awareness bestows hope of a great future that lay ahead for Fijians under the Bainimarama led Government.

Those were the comments made by Information Officer at the Implementation Coordinating Office Mr. Aman Nath after conducting public relations consultations awareness in the Western Division from June 8th to 23th. The consultations were conducted in the provinces of Ba and Ra, namely in the District Advisory Council (DAC) communities of Ba, Tavua and Rakiraki.

The fundamental objective of the PR consultations was to disseminate the Government’s intent in order to empower the grassroots people and enhancing engagement with the Fijian citizens. Mr. Nath also distributed copies of the 2013 Constitution to the visiting communities.

IO Mr. Nath spoke on a plethora of issues such as the 2013 Constitution, Bill of Rights, Government’s Development Plans, gender empowerment, sugar industry reforms, Fiji’s economic status and the Fiji Flag change initiative.

The PR consultations also enabled the people of the Western Division to raise their issues and grievances which directly or indirectly impact their livelihood and the general state of affairs. Some of the issues raised by the people in the West include infrastructure development like roads, rural electrification, water supply, sugar industry reforms and land tenure. Mr. Nath assured the people that the issues raised by them will be referred to the appropriate authorities for their necessary perusal.

DAC Ba Mr. Lailesh Narayan Louis and Tavua Mrs. Sarojni Devi Gounder respectively conveyed their sincere appreciation to the PR team for their presence in the West as it is a testimony of the Government’s commitment to reach out to the people. Both Mr. Narayan and Mrs. Gounder fully backed the Government’s development and reformist initiatives.

“This is the first time that representatives from the Office of the Prime Minister have visited our community to empower and hear us out and we are very pleased with this visit,” said Pundit Nilesh Sharma, the District Advisory Councilor for Navoli, Ba.

Stakeholders such as Sugar Cane Growers Council (SCGC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr. Sundresh Chetty; Fiji Sugar Corporation and SCGC reps; Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) rep and Government Parliamentarians Honourable Ashneel Sudhakar and Honourable Viam Pillay respectively attended the PR consultations awareness in the Western Division.
