Heads of Pacific Prime Ministers’ Departments meet in Brisbane Brisbane

Brisbane — The Permanent Secretary, Office the Prime Minister Mr. Yogesh Karan held a bilateral meeting with his Australian counterpart Dr Martin Parkinson AC on Sunday 14 April, 2019 ahead of the Heads of the Pacific Prime Ministers Departments meeting. At the bilateral meeting Mr. Karan and Dr. Parkinson discussed the pillars of the Fiji-Australia Vuvale Partnership and how to progress these further.

On Monday 15 April 2019, Mr. Karan joined his counterparts from the Pacific at the Heads of the Pacific Prime Ministers Departments which was co-chaired and hosted by the Papua New Chief Secretary to Government Ambassador Isaac B. Lupari CBE and Secretary of the Australian Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet Dr Martin Parkinson AC at the Commonwealth office in Brisbane.

The meeting was hailed a success and the first of its kind and was centred on the shared regional challenges of the Pacific and building strong networking amongst Secretaries of the Department/Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet in the Pacific.

The leaders will hold their second meeting in 2020.
