Suva- Prime Minister Honourable Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama has conveyed his sincere gratitude to the US Government for all the support and assistance it has provided to Fiji during this difficult time as we continue our battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.
While receiving the US Ambassador to Fiji H.E Joseph Cella in his office yesterday, Prime Minister Bainimarama also echoed his appreciation particularly, to the progress we are making in our bilateral relations and mutual commitment to strengthen the Fiji-US bilateral engagement and cooperation at all levels.
Prime Minister Bainimarama also conveyed his deepest condolences to those Americans who have succumbed to COVID-19.
“I am deeply saddened to learn about the thousands of Americans who have succumbed to COVID-19 and those whose lives have been affected by the pandemic. I extend our deepest sympathies to the Government and people of the USA during this dark period in our history and Fiji stands in solidarity with you as you battle on,” he said.
With the pandemic and the recent devastation caused by TC Harold in Fiji, the USA was one of our partners that stepped forward to provide much needed relief and assistance to Fijians.
“This is a practical demonstration of the value that the US Government places on our relations, for which I am grateful,” Prime Minister Bainimarama added.
