PM RABUKA UNVEILS STATE-OF-THE-ART TRACKS AT THE HFC NATIONAL STADIUM-(29-02-2024)

The HFC National Stadium at Suva’s Laucala Bay will now be able host more local and international sporting events in style following the re-opening of its refurbished tracks this afternoon.
The state-of-the-art project- a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Fiji Sports Council, and Sphynx Solution, is aimed at elevating the stadium’s infrastructure to international standards.
Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka officiated at the event, highlighting that the stadium holds a special place in the hearts of many as a venue for numerous memorable sporting events and competitions over the years.
“Since its establishment, the HFC Bank Stadium has been a symbol of sporting excellence, a place where dreams are forged and champions are made. It is a venue where athletes from all walks of life converge to push the boundaries of human potential and inspire generations to come,” he said.
PM Rabuka added that the new synthetic tracks are a testament to the government’s commitment to investing in sports infrastructure, fostering a healthy and active lifestyle for all citizens.
He noted that these world-class facilities would not only attract top talent from Fiji but also from around the globe, providing athletes with an optimal environment to train and compete.
“This stadium is not just for elite athletes, it is a place for everyone to come together to cheer on their favourite teams, to push themselves to new limits, and to create lasting memories with friends and family,” the Prime Minister further added.
“As we stand here today, let us not forget the importance of sports in our society. Sports have the power to bring people together, to be an inspiration and a symbol of unity for a common purpose. Let us use this stadium as a platform to promote unity, diversity, and inclusivity in all aspects of our lives.”
Additionally, PM Rabuka expressed confidence that the newly-refurbished tracks would serve as a catalyst for athletes to excel and achieve their full potential.
“Let us continue to support our athletes as they strive for greatness on the world stage and let us harness the power of sport to inspire and unite our nation, now and for generations to come.”
The event was attended by Cabinet Ministers, members of the Diplomatic Corps, representatives from the business sector and distinguished guests.
