The Yavusa of Cu’u in the Tikina of Tawake in Cakaudrove hosted a ‘Solevu ni Marau’ on Saturday to commemorate the achievements of Cabinet Ministers who share maternal links to their Tikina.
Hon. Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has maternal links to Vatu village; Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Hon. Lynda Tabuya has maternal links to Nagasauva village and; Assistant Minister for Education Hon. Iliesa Vanawalu has maternal links to Wainika Village.
Whilst speaking at the momentous occasion, the Hon. Prime Minister thanked the Yavusa of Cu’u for recognizing and celebrating their achievements.
Prime Minister Rabuka reiterated the importance and value of ‘veiwekani’ (family relationship) with the vanua to help support them in carrying out their roles and endeavors for the nation.
“It wont be an easy journey, however, with the support and resilient links with the vanua, we will sail through this effortlessly,” Prime Minister Rabuka said.
