OPM Staff welcome new Permanent Secretary

The staff of Office of the Prime Minister welcomed the new Permanent Secretary, Mr. Yogesh Karan, on March 1st.

Fiji’s former High Commissioner to India, Mr. Karan, joins OPM with an impressive resume outlining a wealth of experience and knowledge in International Relations, Productivity and Strategic Management, Change Management and Organizational Development to name a few.

In addressing staff Mr. Karan emphasized the importance of the role of the Ministry in supporting the Hon. Prime Minister and having passion to do the work. He spoke on the importance of not only doing the work but to ensure that it is quality work.

“Having passion for your work makes the work easier. When you have passion for your work then you will be able to deliver the best”, said Mr. Karan.

He encouraged the staff to be innovative, to share ideas, to work as a team and to support each other to make the Ministry outstanding. He also shared with the staff his management style and welcomed staff to see him on issues so that he can work with them to resolve it.

“Implementation is something I will be working with, with you and I hope that we perform to the best of our ability,” Mr. Karan said.

The new PS also spent time meeting the individual staff and promised to visit the staff at their individual desks to further discuss on how to move the Ministry and the country forward.
