Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka today officiated the groundbreaking ceremony for the Lautoka Seventh Day Adventist High School, marking another significant step towards advancing Fiji’s education sector.
The high school is expected to open its doors in 2026, providing greater access to education for children in the area.
In his official remarks, PM Rabuka said the progress of the project is worth celebrating.
“Today, we’re here to celebrate progress. On behalf of the Coalition Government, I convey my gratitude to the SDA Church for its contribution towards the education sector in Fiji,” stated the PM.
For this, PM Rabuka acknowledged the contribution of religious institutions in the country for building and managing 95% of the schools in the country.
At the same time, he reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with religious organisations and other relevant stakeholders for the purposes of moving the education sector forward.
“The school is expected to open in 2026 and I urge all parties concerned to unite in this project. Let us collectively come together to make this project a reality,” he concluded.
As part of its ongoing contributions to the education sector, the SDA Church operates a total of three high schools and 12 primary schools in Fiji.
