As we draw the curtains on what has been a truly memorable 23rd Melanesian Spearhead Group Leaders Summit here in Fiji, I rise with a full heart, one filled with gratitude, pride, and deep appreciation.
Over the past few days, we have not only shared space and discussions but also reaffirmed a bond that goes beyond politics and policy. We are Melanesia. We are family. This Summit has reminded us of the immense strength we hold when we come together as one.
Fiji has been deeply honoured to host you. From the vibrant shores of Suva to the halls where we deliberated key regional priorities, I hope you have felt the warmth of our people and the strength of our commitment to the MSG.
This Summit has reinforced our shared values—sovereignty, solidarity, and sustainable development. We tackled critical issues, from regional security to economic cooperation, from climate resilience to cultural preservation. While challenges remain, what gives me hope is the clarity of our vision and the unity of our purpose.
Let me acknowledge and thank my fellow Leaders —your leadership continues to steer our region with wisdom and courage. I also thank the MSG Secretariat for their steadfast commitment to ensuring the success of this Summit.
As you prepare to return home, I hope you carry with you the spirit of mutual respect and our relationship and kinship. Let us continue to build on what we’ve achieved here, with action, unity, and unwavering resolve.
As we prepare to depart, from the government and people of Fiji, vinaka vakalevu, thank you sincerely for being with us.
