Rooster Poultry has achieved a significant milestone following the inauguration of its $13 million upgraded processing plant facility in Navau, Ba today.
Prime Minister Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka commissioned this project, highlighting that the occasion not only reflected Rooster Poultry’s achievements but also our nation’s journey towards greater food security and economic prosperity.
Operated by Future Farms Limited, Rooster Poultry has grown leaps and bounds over the last decades, consistently achieving world-class food safety and quality standards, certified by the internationally recognised ISO 9000 framework.
In his official remarks, PM Rabuka said Rooster is now a household brand, supplying major supermarket chains throughout the country, restaurants, and our tourism industry.
“Their commitment to the vanua and community is evidenced by the employment of 450 staff, playing an integral role in the Ba economy, he highlighted.
“Their phenomenal growth has also had an economic multiplier effect with the use of local suppliers to support the expansion of the business.”
Locally owned and operated, Rooster Poultry has supported numerous community projects and made significant sponsorship investments, most notably in sports to develop our young talent, fostering national pride.
The Prime Minister took the opportunity to acknowledge BSP Life as the sole shareholder in Future Farms.
“Their commitment to nurturing this business with significant capital investment, strategic oversight, strong governance and trust in the future of our country is deeply acknowledged,” he said.
Rooster Poultry’s commitment to international quality standards ensures that our products can compete globally, enhancing Fiji’s reputation as a producer of top-quality goods.
For this, the PM stated that the new production plant will support local consumption and be an enabler for exports across the region.
“This is a massive pendulum shift from a time where we were dependent on imports, transitioning to self-sufficiency, with the future prospect of exporting.
“Today’s inauguration is a testament to the confidence that businesses have in the Fijian economy and the enabling policies of the Peoples Coalition government.”
PM Rabuka added that “our administration has worked tirelessly to create a conducive environment for businesses to thrive”.
“The investment by Rooster Poultry in upgrading their facilities is an affirmation of the confidence in the future of our country.
“The Peoples’ Coalition Government acknowledges that the private sector is the engine of growth,” he said.
“We have an ambition to turbo-charge our economy and are committed to playing our part in creating the right enabling environment, whilst ensuring compliance with our regulatory frameworks.
“Vinaka Vakalevu to CEO Stanley and his dedicated team. Congratulations to Rooster Poultry on this remarkable achievement.
“Let us move forward together in the spirit of partnership and progress as one team, Team Fiji.”
