New Zealand’s Prime Minister Rt Honourable Christopher Luxon was accorded a traditional ceremony of welcome held this afternoon at the Grand Pacific Hotel.
The Government delegation was led by the Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable Sitiveni Rabuka, with cabinet ministers, members of parliament and members of diplomatic corps, also in attendance.
Prime Minister Luxon expressed his appreciation for the kind hospitality accorded to him and his delegation as they undertake their 3 day visit to Fiji, starting today till this Friday.
“I’m really looking forward to the next few days. I’m looking forward to talking about how we can continue to build and to strengthen the relationship between our two great countries, Fiji and New Zealand.”
“It is a long standing relationship and is one that we are incredibly proud about. And it’s exciting to think about where we can take the relationship and as we continue to deepen our ties and our connection.”
As part of the program tomorrow, Prime Minister Luxon will meet with His Excellency the President, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, and have a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Honourable Sitiveni Rabuka.
This would be an opportunity to reflect and refresh the ongoing cooperation underpinned in the Duavata Partnership Agreement.
The Prime Ministers will also attend the Joint New Zealand-Fiji and Fiji-New Zealand Business Council Conference, a platform to boost economy, trade and investment opportunities.
