The global community is already grappling with unprecedented challenges of climate change, biodiversity loss, conflict, poverty, health, and development.
These were the sentiments shared by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka at the Forum Leaders Dialogue with the United Nations Secretary General at the Tonga High School Indoor Stadium.
“The range of the threats facing the world are so urgent and widespread reflecting the evolving global landscape. The only solution is a collective one.”
PM Rabuka added that strong international cooperation, diplomacy, and a commitment to upholding the principles of the United Nations are important.
United Nations General Secretary António Guterres said the United Nations remains loyal to the Pacific Islands.
“You can be absolutely sure that all the UN staff in your countries will be focused on people centered and community based solutions,” he said.
