ASSISTANCE POURS IN FOR PRIME MINISTER’S DISASTER RELIEF AND REHABILITATION FUND

Financial contribution towards the Prime Minister’s National Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation Fund continues to pour in from individuals, business organisations and religious bodies.

Prime Minister Hon. Voreqe Bainimarama this morning received a cheque of FJD$30,300 from Ahmadiyya Anjuman Ishaat –I – Islam (Lahore) Fiji president, Mehboob Raza. He said the assistance from the religious organisation will help Government in the ongoing recovery and rehabilitation efforts in the wake of Tropical Cyclone Winston.

Mr Raza said they were glad to be of assistance so people in affected areas could rebuild their lives. He said apart from making a donation towards the relief fund, their members distributed clothes and other immediate relief supplies to charitable organisations.

The Prime Minister also received a separate donation today of FJD$17,384 from the Fiji Performing Rights Association. In receiving the donation, Prime Minister Bainimarama thanked the association and the public for coming to the aid of their fellow Fijians and making their contribution to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.

The fund was raised through the Rise Up Fiji Concert held in Suva recently.
