Development Indispensible to Northern Economic Growth

The Government’s focus on development is a vital ingredient to growing the Northern economy.

Those were the remarks made by Information Officer at the Implementation Coordinating Office Mr. Aman Nath after conducting public relations consultations awareness in the Northern Division from March 12th to 25th.

The fundamental objective of the PR consultations was to disseminate the Government’s intent in order to empower the grassroots people and enhancing engagement with the Fijian citizens.

IO Mr. Nath spoke on a plethora of issues such as the 2013 Constitution, Bill of Rights, Government’s Development Plans, gender empowerment, sugar industry reforms, Fiji’s financial status and the Fiji Flag change.

The PR consultations also enabled the people of the Northern Division to raise their issues and grievances which directly or indirectly impact their livelihood. Some of the issues raised by the people in the North include infrastructure development like roads, rural electrification, social welfare, water supply, sugar industry reforms and land tenure.

DAC Chairman for Labasa Mr. Satyawan Bal Ram and Savusavu Mr. Bas Deo Lakhan respectively conveyed their sincere appreciation to the PR team for their presence in the North as it is a testimony of the Government’s commitment to reach out to the people.

“This is the first time in Fiji’s history that representatives from the Office of the Prime Minister after elections are visiting the grassroots people in the Northern Division to empower and hear them out,” said Mr. Abdul Shameem, the District Advisory Councilor for Vunivere, Seaqaqa.
