NEW DINING HALL FOR SAQANI HIGH SCHOOL-(08-05-2023)

Students of Saqani High School in Cakaudrove will dine in style when they rejoin school in term two following the opening of their new dining hall on Monday 8th May, 2023.
The Ministry of Education-funded hall was commissioned by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka
After the commissioning, Hon. Rabuka toured the $695,000 structure which has been equipped with new tables, benches, cooking utensils, burner and gas stove and lavatories.
The hall will also be used by the students and teachers as an evacuation centre.
He was impressed with the work of the builders, saying the new hall was certainly built to expected standard.
Even though there were hiccups along the way, the Prime Minister thanked the school management and Ministry of Education for ensuring that the project was fully completed.
He urged the current students to look after the hall well as it would be used by other students in years to come.
With this project completed and other major ones planned for the school, Prime Minister Rabuka took the opportunity to also encourage the students to continue to focus on their studies and excel in their school work in order to become successful in life.
Divisional education officer northern Mrs Iliseva Volai said they would now open the school for boarding, particularly for Years 12 and 13 students.
She said these boarders would be the first cohort of students to use the dining hall.
Mrs Volai, on behalf of the school, conveyed their appreciation to the government for its assistance and continued support which resulted in the completion of the hall.
