Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka this morning commissioned three projects for the Fiji Ports Authority, marking a significant upgrade to Fiji’s port facilities.
The three projects at the Lautoka port include maintenance dredging, pilot boat and construction of a container yard.
The maintenance dredging project covers an area of 63,624 square metres while the construction of the container yard will include a wash-bay area, promoting sustainable and waste management practices.
The pilot board namely “Louvaju”, will further enhance border security with access beyond port boundaries, improving maritime control.
During the commissioning, PM Rabuka said this is a very important day as Fiji works to further develop its port facilities.
He said the projects are part of the government’s broader vision to make Fiji the hub of the Pacific by enhancing its ports efficiency and capacity.
