Prime Minister and Minister responsible for Public Enterprises Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka, today commended Food Processors (Fiji) Pte Limited (FPFL) for its significant contributions to Fiji’s economy, agriculture, and food security.
While officiating the opening of the company’s newly refurbished factory, PM Rabuka stated that FPFL has shown what we, as a country, can produce from the use of land.
Established in 1984, FPFL is a wholly government-owned enterprise that operates under the Ministry of Public Enterprises and plays a vital role in processing agricultural and marine products into premium foods under the well-known “Pacific Crown” and “Red Ribbon” brands.
“Its products include bottled and canned sauces, canned palusami, ivi, breadfruit, jackfruit, duruka, frozen packaged vegetables, and marine commodities,” the PM shared.
“This project has significantly defended the health and safety of the company’s workers and is a major step towards meeting higher factory and safety at work standards.”
The PM revealed that the government wants to facilitate wealth creation in its people to improve their quality of life and standard of living.
“That will be the greatest achievement any government can ever aspire to – for the people to be able to stand on their own feet and realize their full potential. That is their dignity as a people and as communities. That is the government’s priority.”
Significant progress has also been made at FPFL’s Batiri farm in Vanua Levu, where government funding has enabled road improvements, bee farming initiatives, critical equipment purchases, and vital electrification works.
In closing, Hon. Rabuka expressed gratitude to the Board of Directors, management team, and employees for their dedication to FPFL’s success.
