Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka
joined hundreds of people from all walks of life to honor and celebrate the life of the late Mr. Vinod Patel in Ba today.
Members of Parliament and the diplomatic corps, business houses, the wider Ba community and well-wishers from around Fiji and abroad gathered to pay their final respects to the late Mr Patel.
In a heartfelt eulogy presented on behalf of the Fiji Government, Prime Minister Rabuka paid tribute to Mr. Patel as a great son of Fiji, acknowledging his immense contributions to the nation’s economic growth.
The chairman of Vinod Patel Group of Companies passed away at the age of 84 in Lautoka last week.
In describing a life well-lived, PM Rabuka remarked that the late Mr Patel was a great achiever and great example to many.
“We are here to pay our respects to a great man who had a very simple background. We have all witnessed his achievements and benefitted from his efforts,” he highlighted.
“Let the good examples of his life live in us and those who come after us. He has done great things and may his soul rest in peace.”
The late Mr Patel served as a Parliamentary representative of the National Federation Party during Hon. Rabuka’s first term as Prime Minister, a period that led to the enactment of the 1997 constitution.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs Manjulaben Patel, three children and grandchildren.
