Prime Minister Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka last night (16-10-25) met with residents of Ba at Katriya Hall during the “Meet the Press” forum organised by the Fijian Media Association (FMA).
The Prime Minister was accompanied by the Minister for Public Works, Transport and Meteorological Services, Hon. Filipe Tuisawau, and the Minister for Multi-Ethnic Affairs and Sugar, Hon. Charan Jeath Singh, along with Assistant Minister’s, Permanent Secretary’s and senior government officials.
The event provided members of the public with a unique opportunity to directly engage with the Prime Minister and senior government officials on issues affecting their communities. The FMA emphasized that the purpose of the forum was to encourage open dialogue, allowing citizens to ask questions, raise concerns, and follow up on matters that require government attention.
Key issues discussed during the session included the need for road upgrades in Ba, land-related concerns, challenges in the sugar industry, public transportation accessibility, medical facility improvements, and drainage system upgrades.
Prime Minister Rabuka encouraged the people of Ba to remain proactive in communicating their concerns, urging them not to wait for scheduled forums and stay engaged with civil servants in Ba about their requests. He emphasized that consistent engagement with government representatives is vital to ensuring that community needs are effectively met.
In his intervention, Hon. Tuisawau assured residents that the Government is working closely with the Public Works Authority to prioritize and address the areas in Ba that require immediate attention.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and services across Ba, acknowledging the dedication of senior government officials who participated in the forum and responded to questions from the public.
Katriya Hall was filled to capacity from people of different ethnicities along with children and parents who turned up to show their support and engage directly with national leaders, a clear sign of the community’s enthusiasm and commitment to shaping a better Fiji together.
