Prime Minister Honourable Sitiveni Rabuka made these remarks while meeting with the Fijian diaspora in Honiara, Solomon Islands last night.
At first, he acknowledged the warm hospitality accorded to him and his delegation upon arrival ahead of the 54th session of the Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting, which will officially open in the nation’s capital this afternoon.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister highlighted the significant role that Fijians abroad play in supporting national development, particularly through remittances, knowledge sharing, education, and regional connections.
He noted that these contributions are vital to advancing Fiji’s progress and in building stronger international partnerships.
Prime Minister Rabuka also shared the Coalition Government’s plans for the development of the Melanesian community and the “Vasu ITaukei” in Fiji.
He encouraged those present to remain proud representatives of Fiji while making the most of opportunities in the Solomon Islands.
The meeting also provided members of the Fijian diaspora with the opportunity to engage directly with the Prime Minister through questions and discussions.
