Students of Saint Francis College in Ra now have access to improved learning facilities following the official opening of the school hall by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka today.
The construction of the new school hall was funded by the Office of the Prime Minister under the Small Grants Scheme, with a total allocation of $47,881.52.
In his address to the students, Prime Minister Rabuka highlighted the importance of education in achieving personal and national progress.
“Education will make you successful—try to do your best all the time,” he urged.
The Prime Minister expressed concern over the rise in drug abuse and HIV cases among young people, advising students to stay focused on their goals.
“Nowadays, we are seeing an increase in cases of drug abuse and a rise in HIV cases among young people. Do not fall into this trap—focus on your studies and work hard to build a better future.”
He further acknowledged the dedication of the school management and the wider community for their continued efforts.
“I commend the efforts of the school staff and the parents who work tirelessly behind the scenes. Your dedication ensures that our children are not left behind, no matter where they live.”
He also shared words of encouragement by referencing the Serenity Prayer by St.Francis of Assisi:
“Lord, grant me the strength to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”
School Principal Mr. Dhirendra Dipak Nand, on behalf of the staff and students, expressed gratitude to the Government for its continued support in improving education access in rural communities.
