RABI ISLAND COUNCIL RECEIVES NEW VEHICLE TO BOOST OPERATIONS AND COMMUNITY SUPPORT- (05-03-2025)

Life has been made easier for the Rabi Island Council of Leaders on the eastern coast of Vanua Levu after its members received a new twin cab vehicle today.
The new vehicle is expected to support the Council in its daily operations, provide accessible transportation, and assist the community during natural disasters and other important events.
The $98,000 vehicle was funded through the China Grant, which is administered by the Office of the Prime Minister.
In officially handing over the new vehicle, Prime Minister Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka noted that the Council has been using a 10-year-old truck which is in an obsolete state, highlighting the need for another vehicle to enhance efficiency in the Council’s operations.
At the outset, the PM informed the Council representatives present that the government is seriously looking into the concerns and issues faced by the people of Rabi, with plans afoot to improve community living.
Speaking on behalf of the Council and the people of Rabi, the Administrator, Mr Jacob Karutake, expressed his appreciation to the Prime Minister and the government for the significant donation, adding that it would certainly complement their work on the island and enhance community support.
