VILLAGERS RECEIVE SOLAR ELECTRIFICATION PROJECT-(08-05-2023)

Villagers of Lakeba in the district of Saqani, Cakaudrove will now have access to solar power after the Prime Minister Honourable Sitiveni Rabuka commissioned their solar home system project on Monday 8th, 2023.
The project is part of the 2000 solar home systems donated to the Fiji Government under the China South-South Cooperation Project.
Prime Minister, while addressing the villagers, acknowledged the assistance of the previous government, highlighting that the coalition Government was here to continue with the work initiated by the Bainimarama-led administration.
He remarked that the present government was completing what the previous government had initiated for the villagers.
For this, he said the responsibility of any government in power was to develop the nation for the benefit of its people.
The Prime Minister urged the villagers to continue to take the first step in initiating developments in their community and not to rely heavily on government for assistance.
He also encouraged the villagers to always look after all the government-initiated projects implemented for them for their own good.
The villagers expressed their appreciation to the Prime Minister for the project and for visiting them.
The solar project will cater for the charging of mobile phones and laptops, and also the use of appliances such as TV, small radio and table fan.
About 850 solar home systems have so far been installed in the northern division under this project.
